Planning and Assessment
Teachers plan an overview of what they will be teaching each term. They then use this to plan weekly and adapt their plans after reflecting on the learning in each lesson. The planning takes into consideration the individual needs of pupils. Teachers monitor pupils’ progress in the lesson on a daily basis. Individualised comments are made in marking which help pupils to focus on specific areas for development. At the end of each term pupils are assessed against the national curriculum levels.
In Years 2 and 6, all pupils carry out Standard Assessment Tests (SATs). These are where pupils are formally assessed in Reading, Writing, Mathematics and Science. In Year 6, these results are published.
Each term the parents are invited to attend parents’ evening to discuss their child’s progress in more detail. In term 2 they have the opportunity to look at the work in their child’s books. At the end of the academic year, all parents will receive a report on their child’s progress.
This year we are working with the other Academy schools to devise a revised assessment system.
